Aberavon
Harlequins - 5
Abergavenny - 3
ABERGAVENNY were defeated in the second round of the SWALEC Cup on Saturday in a low-scoring affair against Division Three South West's Aberavon Quins.
Coach Gary Lawrence told the Chronicle, "There's not a lot you can say about the game. Once again we lost by the narrowest of margins, but apart from their try and our early penalty by Steve Lang, no-one looked liked scoring for the remainder of the game.
"We were without eight or nine of our first choice players on the day, but that's not to say everyone on the pitch didn't play well.
"They did, it was just one of those error-strewn games where nothing much happens.
"The standout performances put in by our scrum-half Paul Cornock and returning blindside flanker Tom Rees are worthy of a mention, but all in all it's a game we'd like to forget."
The claret and ambers will now turn their attention to this week's Division Two East encounter at Bailey Park with third-placed Bedlinog.
Aber haven't played at home in three straight Saturdays, and haven't recorded a victory in four, so this weekend's game is an ideal opportunity to rectify the situation, turn the tide, and buck the losing trend that has shadowed them for too long.
Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
