Two boys have been brought to safety after reports of two individuals on a rooftop in Frogmore Street at around midnight last night.

One eyewitness told The Chronicle that three police cars and two fire engines were in attendance on Frogmore Street, claiming that two youths were spotted causing damage to the roofs of properties in the town centre.

“The youths finally came off the roof at 3am after initially refusing to,” they said.

“Damage has been caused to roofs on Frogmore street. The youths gained access from the back of Tescos and across their roof. This has happened a number of times and is costing businesses thousands of pounds in repairs to broken tiles etc.”

“[It is] a total waste of police resources and the fire department, we feel the people of Abergavenny need to know what’s going on.”

Police officers confirmed they were called to a ‘concern for safety’ for two boys in the middle of the night and they were safely brought down during the early hours.

“We received a report of concern for safety on Frogmore Street, Abergavenny at around 12am on Wednesday September 2,” a spokesperson for Gwent Police said.

“Officers attended alongside personnel from South Wales Fire and Rescue. Two boys were brought to safety.”
