THREE deaths in Gwent may be linked to the ingestion of the same batch of heroin police fear.
Gwent Police are extremely concerned after five incidents were reported this week potentially linked to the ingestion of heroin. Three of these incidents have sadly resulted in people losing their lives.
The incidents have all occurred between October 23 and October 28 in the Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Newport areas.
DI Leigh Mears of Gwent Police said, "It is not clear whether all these tragic events are directly related, however, I cannot rule out the possibility that the deaths and the medical emergencies are linked to the same batch of heroin.
"The use of heroin is of course illegal, but I would urge anyone using the drug to be especially cautious and vigilant. If they experience any unusual symptoms after taking drugs, they should seek medical attention immediately."
If you have any concerns or any information relating to illegal drug supply in your area please call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
