JUST under a month remains for people in Abergavenny and the rest of Monmouthshire to help shape the future of policing in the county.
Police and Crime Commissioner Ian Johnston launched his ‘Your Policing – Your View’ public consultation last month which asks for feedback on police and crime priorities for the county.
The PCC is urging the interested parties to complete the short but important questionnaire to possibly influence future priorities.
He wants to know whether there are any emerging local or national priorities which should be taken into account.
Current priorities in the Police and Crime Plan are:
* People are satisfied that the police provide a service which meets their requirements.
* Prevent and reduce crime.
* Take more effective action to tackle anti-social behaviour.
* Protect people from serious harm.
* Make the best use of resources and provide value for money.
There are also a number of emerging themes at both local and national levels which should be considered, including cybercrime and child safeguarding.
Mr Johnston said, “There is still an opportunity for people to comment on the future police and crime priorities.
“I think these priorities are important - and I want to know if they are still important to the public and what emerging areas of police work they feel I should be considering in any future revisions of my plan.”
The consultation, in which people are asked to rank their own first and second priorities, will run until 4pm on August 21. To take part, visit http://bit.ly/yourpolicing
