The search is now on to find people in our community who deserve to be recognised for their hard work and their commitment to helping others.
The last two years where we had to cope with living through the Covid 19 pandemic, lockdowns and many of us living in total isolation have been tough.
No doubt many of you were helped by family, friends, neighbours or maybe even a kindly stranger or local volunteer.
And because we can now see a light at the end of the tunnel as our lives return to some form of normality we decided to launch our Community in Kindness awards so local people, businesses, schools and organisations can put forward their local heroes for an award.
So do you know someone in Abergavenny who deserves to be nominated?
The Chronicle and Abergavenny Town Council have joined forces and last week officially launched the awards.
Nominations are already coming in and as you can see from our information on the adjoining page we have 11 amazing categories for the awards, which will highlight all individuals from our community who are true champions.
It is really easy to nominate someone.
Either simply log onto our website and visit our Community in Kindness tab at the top of the home page (web address at bottom of page).
Or if you would prefer, simply fill in the nomination coupon on page 11 or complete one of our flyers which have been distributed throughout our high streets.
Just return them to our Nevill Street offices and place into our nomination box (pictured here).
A further nomination box can be found at Abergavenny library hub in Market Street, but don’t forget to also follow us on facebook and twitter, where you will also see further updates on who has been nominated.
On another note we are thrilled to announce some of our sponsors who are supporting this project and we will be giving you further updates on these magnificent patrons as the weeks go on, so watch this space.
These local sponsors include the Abergavenny Town Council, The Angel Hotel, James Dean estate agents, Abergavenny Garden Centre, David Taylor Garages and Christ Church College.
Our Tindle News events director Sharon Hobday has been spending much of her time in Abergavenny and commented: “The market town really does feel like the Gateway to Wales.
‘‘It is such a beautiful part of the world and is truly such a quaint and delightful hamlet to launch our first awards project for 2022.
‘‘The scenic interest and proud traditions are just the perfect location to explore and find exceptional individuals.
‘‘So get your nominations in.’’
Those nominated for the awards will be invited to attend a celebration afternoon tea at the Angel Hotel in Abergavenny in July.
