GLANGRWYNEY CC'S visit to the picturesque ground of Moccas CC ended in a very disappointing 19 runs defeat, with the Glan being all out in 37 overs with eight overs still to bat. Moccas elected to bat first and opening bowlers Richard James (3 for 27 off 12) and Haydn Devies (2 for 25 off 12) soon had Moccas on the back foot with James bowling Price with his third ball. A. Harris (65) stepped up and soon put bat to ball, and was particular severe on Glan skipper Colin Griffiths (0 for 51 off seven). Debutant Gethin Price (3 for 16 off 4) got the Glan back on track and helped by Roger Edwards (1 for 13 off 4) reduced Moccas to 117 for six off 30 overs. Richard James then bowled an impressive second spell with two batsmen bowled and Nick Jones getting the dangerous Harris in the 39th over. After tea, Glan must have been feeling confident about forcing a moderate total on a small ground, but unlucky opener Roger Edwards got bowled first ball by Bill Bowen (3 for 25 off 12). Fellow opener Paul Daniel (39) anchored the innings with great effort and was joined by Tim Jones (17) and took the score to 50 for three off 14 before Jones was caught in the deep by Harris. Nick Jones (12) was then bowled and although Gethin Price (13) batted well, Daniel was running out of partners. When Daniel was eventually caught, Glan's hopes faded, and although debutant Josh James and Richard James got eight and six runs respectively, Colin Griffiths stood firm with nine not out. Glan were dismissed for a dissapoinintg 121 with eight of their allocated 45 overs still to bat.
