The 2016 FAW Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s are now open for nominations. The awards recognise grassroots football clubs and volunteers that dedicate countless hours to grassroots football throughout the country.

Manchester United Assistant Manager and Wales Legend, Ryan Giggs is urging local communities to nominate their grassroots heroes who make a real difference to grassroots football across Wales. This can be any one at the club who goes the extra mile to ensure that all players have access to the beautiful game; whether you wash the kit, paint the lines or make the half-time tea, everyone is eligible for an award.

The McDonald’s Head of Welsh Football, Giggs, said, “Grassroots football is the lifeblood of the national game and the hard work that goes into it often goes unnoticed. This is why the McDonald’s Community Awards is such a great initiative as it gives those volunteers who dedicate countless hours to the game the recognition that they deserve. If you know anyone who goes above and beyond for your local club then nominate them for an award that their work merits as the game simply wouldn’t be the same without them.”

The awards, which take place throughout Wales, have eight categories including Volunteer of the Year, School of the Year and the coveted People’s Award which is a publicly voted for award that celebrates an individual’s outstanding contribution to grassroots football.
