TWO schools have become one for the coming summer term with tiny Llanfair Kilgeddin VA taking shelter with Usk's primary.
Governors at the village school, which has fewer than 30 pupils, have agreed to up sticks and co-habit with their bigger near-neighbours from April 13 under the executive headship of Victoria Evans.
Chairman Will McLean said the move was "due to a need to provide operational and strategic leadership for both pupils and staff."
He was anxious to stress that the school was not closing.
The ambition was to return to the village site in the new academic year in September.
He said, "We are aware that this will be a change for pupils and staff alike - and we have worked with Monmouthshire County Council to put in place support arrangements to ensure this necessary transition is as smooth as it can be."
Sarah McGuinness, the education authority's chief officer for children and young people, said, "The local authority is keen to emphasise that the school has not closed - and this is simply two schools sharing a building and facilities with the support and direction of an executive headteacher."
