HOT on the heels of their 10-0 mauling of Tranch, Usk Town have opened up a two point gap at the top of Gwent County Division One
Played on the 'Island', the visitors were left floundering as Usk goals came thick and fast from hat-tricks by Will Barton and Joe Henry, a brace from Jamie Swift, and one apiece from Daniel Jones and Philip Samson.
Man of the match for Usk was David Egerton.
Usk were involved in another goal fest the previous Wednesday when Mardy were the unlucky recipients of a 4-10 drubbing.
John Paul Glencross, Joe Henry, and Will Barton all scored hat-tricks, and man of the match David Egerton scored a solo effort.
Usk are now sitting pretty as kings of the hill with four wins out of four.
Following their midweek 3-6 away win over Blaenavon Blues and Saturday's 2-2 home draw with a visiting PILCS outfit, the Pandy hold second place in Division One.
Pandy banished the Blues with strikes from man of the match Robert Didcote (2), David Lambert, Mike Smith, Steven Hollingworth, and Mark Hughes.
Blaenavon put up a resolute defence and scored through Steve White, James Camage, and man of the match Iltyd Carrick.
In their draw against PILCS, Pandy's Steven Hollingworth and Mark Hughes struck the strikes which made it honours even at the end of play.
Man of the match for Pandy was Mark Lewis.
The game was notable in that both sides had a player each sent off.
In midweek Llanarth were on the receiving end of a 3-1 away defeat to PILCS. Llanarth could only manage a penalty by Gavin Phillips in a vain attempt to stem the tide.
Man of the match for Llanarth was Jamie Edwards.
On Saturday Llanarth played host to Panteg, and despite missing three key players from last season's Premier Division winning side in the shape of Colin Morgan, Michael Morgan, and prolific goal machine Dan Wheeler, they squeezed out a 6-5 victory.
Llanarth's goals came courtesy of Gavin Phillips (2), Tommy Jones, Jamie Edwards, James Trigg and Steve Trigg.
Man of the match for Llanarth was Tommy Jones.
Llanfoist sit in third position following their midweek 4-1 home win over local rivals Govilon and their 7-2 demolition of Mardy on Saturday.
Against Govilon, Mike Davies, Nick Hammett, Craig Bennett and Benji Clark all did the honours for Llanfoist. Govilon's solitary goal came via a Steve Thomas own goal.
In their meet with Mardy, Llanfoist established a 5-0 half-time lead and went on to dominate proceedings. Mike Davies netted a hat-trick, Benji Clark bagged a brace, and Adam Barber and man of the match Nick Hammett scored one apiece.
Man of the match for Mardy was Adam White.
It was a forgettable week for Gilwern and District who lost both their games.
Against Crickhowell they were beaten 2-1 after a strike by Crick's Gareth Williams and a Gilwern own goal by Mike Randell carried the day.
Gilwern's goal came via Kieran Shelvin and their man of the match was Adam Carrington.
Crickhowell's man of the match was Marc Eacott.
Fairfield were the victors in Gilwern's Saturday fixture. Adam Carrington scored from a penalty and Chris Perry scored from a goal, but Fairfield scored two more and won the match 2-4.
In midweek, Fairfield Utd beat Clydach wasps 2-1. Man of the match Simmon Tippens scored for the Wasps, but it just wasn't enough.
Prescoed stay top of Division Two following their 3-0 victory over Pontypool Town.
Man of the match Luke Pearson (2) and Matthew Johnson scored for Prescoed.
Usk Town 'B' visited Lower Meadow to take on Pandy 'B' and smashed them 1-3.
Pandy took a 1-0 lead into the interval courtesy of Ashley Morgan, but from then on in it was all Usk, as the visitors bounced back with three goals to no reply.
David Glencross, Adam Glencross and Richard Evans all did the damage.
Man of the match for Pandy was Tom Hughes.
Man of the match for Usk was Ben Jones.
