VANDALISED portaloos, rusty farming equipment, bags of rubbish, gas canisters, a chair and a lilo was just some of the mess left at a beauty spot which was descended upon by travellers.
By Friday evening the dozen travellers left Castle Meadows in Abergavenny following their week-long stay. They broke into the site last week and officers from Monmouthshire County Council issued them with a notice ordering them to leave the site by today.
However, as our pictures show, the encampment also left behind a trail of rubbish and, after their departure, the portaloos provided by Monmouthshire County Council were daubed in graffiti by unknown persons.
