TEDDIES from Monmouthshire are among those who have recently turned up on the Greek island of Lesvos thanks to donations to the Teddy Trust.

Earlier this year the Chronicle ran a story on how local Teddy Trust organiser had been helping the charity to hit its target of 10,000 teddies for displaced children traumatised by war.

The refugee children on Lesvos, mostly from war-torn Syria, have been thrilled according to charity workers who have been quick to thank supporters in the UK.

Powys branch organiser, Debbie Murray said, ‘A teddy can have a profoundly comforting effect on a suffering child elsewhere in the world.  Sometimes the teddy is the only gift that child has ever received.’

Anyone with a spare teddy can donate it via www.teddytrust.org.uk or by post to The Teddy Trust, Kingsland Post Office, Kingsland, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 9QS.

However, the Trust have asked if people would kindly send teddies with happy faces, no ghouls or monsters as the children are still in many cases suffering the effects of war. also, because many of the children are Muslim, please do not send pigs.
