A host of Sunday services between Hereford and Abergavenny have been announced by the bus operator, Stagecoach, meaning there will be a public transport link via road on the day for the first time in decades.

The changes will come into force on Sunday August 30 and provide an alternative to rail travel which is - albeit quicker - costly at almost £15 for a one way ticket. The bus service will also connect communities like Pandy and Pontrilas to larger destinations at either end.

Buses will depart Abergavenny for Hereford at 08.50am, 10.50am, 120.pm and 2.50pm and there will also be an increased service towards Pontypool and Cwmbran, with departures at 10.50am, 12.50pm, 2,50pm and 4.50pm.

There will also be additional evening services on Mondays to Saturdays, departing Cwmbran at 6.30pm and 08.30pm, and Hereford at 08.30pm and 10.30pm. This will provide the first evening service between Abergavenny and Hereford for several decades and will increase the evening frequency between Abergavenny and Cwmbran to hourly.

The last departures from Abergavenny will now be 09.25pm to Hereford and 11.30pm to Pontypool and Cwmbran.

There will also be a Sunday service on route 68, operated by Newport Bus, for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

The popular local route that connects rural communities between Abergavenny, Raglan and Monmouth will run on the seventh day of the week once again from August 30th onwards. There will be four journeys in each direction, departing Abergavenny at 09.05am, 11.05am, 1.05pm and 4.05pm and departing Monmouth at 10.20am, 12.20pm, 2.20pm and 5.20pm.
