Eight pupils of Pontypool's Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw were in a minibus which overturned at Pantygelli near Abergavenny on Friday.
The accident happened on Old Hereford Road, near Pantygelli, just before 8am.
Gwent Police said no-one was seriously injured, but the driver and one pupil from Pontypool's Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw comprehensive were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The police confirmed no other vehicle was involved in the accident and the circumstances were being investigated.
In a statement, Monmouthshire council said: "An incident occurred... involving a minibus transporting eight students to Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw. None of the eight students suffered serious injury.
"The school contacted parents to inform them of the incident while emergency services attended to the students, who later returned home."
It added that an investigation into the incident would be carried out by council officials and said it was offering its support to the parents' of the pupils involved.
