A key rural road connecting villages to the Welsh border and nearby towns and cities will close for repairs to damage caused to the road surface during the most recent heatwave.

The C1219 will close between The Vroe Road and its junction with the A465 in Pontrilas, which carries traffic between Hereford and Abergavenny on Wednesday night. The closure will leave motorists with a diversion of over 10 miles between 7pm and 5am on Thursday July 30. Those living in the Welsh border communities of Walterstone, Llancillo and Rowlestone have been advised to plan ahead.

Those in Pontrilas will be able to use the A465 to travel north and southbound as normal. But the road closure means anyone trying to get to those villages will need to drive back into Wales, before turning right up Pandy Road to follow the diversion backwards towards the village.
