CAR thieves gave police the run around over a 24-hour period after snatching cars worth nearly £50,000 from the Abergavenny area.
A brand new four-wheel drive Nissan Navarra, valued at £30,000, was stolen from the Chapel Road area of the town on Friday.
Six police units were involved in a search for the stolen car - but no trace was found of the vehicle.
The following day a £15,000 brown Ford Fiesta was taken from the Halfpennys area of Gilwern.
The vehicle still had keys in the ignition when the thief struck.
Anyone with information about the location of either vehicle should ring police on 101.
