Police in Abergavenny are appealing for information about a burglary in the Mardy area on Monday July 2.

The burglary, at an address on Firs Road, is believed to have occurred between 9.30 am and 4.30pm.

Items including silverware, jewellery and cash were stolen.

Some distinctive items were also taken including: a solid silver bon bon dish, teapot, water jug, sugar bowl, sugar tongs and cream jug.

Two silver basket-style fruit dishes were stolen too, one round Victorian and one oblong with an inscription 'Presented to Mrs Lewis. Workers and Miners Colliery Bedwellty 1900'.

The haul also included a nine carat gold fountain pen and Biro and a gold chain and tear drop-shaped pendant with the letter 'S' engraved in diamonds.
