The open-air performances by Illyria are always one of the highlights of the summer season.
This year the company returns to Abergavenny Castle with three very different offerings: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, on Tuesday August 9 at 7pm; Ruddigore, on Wednesday August 10 at 7pm and the Roald Dahl classic Danny The Champion of the World on Thursday August 11 at 3pm
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect comedy for a moonlit summer evening while Ruddigore, Gilbert and Sullivan’s glorious spoof of a gothic haunted house story, is a wonderful operetta faithfully performed by a reduced cast and accompanied by a musical director on keyboard.
The afternoon performance of Danny The Champion of The World by Roald Dahl, adapted by David Wood, is a treat for the whole family and helps celebrate the author’s 100th birthday.
Tickets are available from the Borough Theatre Box Office on 01873 850805, online at boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk or on the gate an hour before each performance.
Don’t forget to take a picnic, warm clothing and something to sit on. A bar and hot drinks will be available.
