A 69 year old man who died as a result of a road traffic collision yesterday) on the A4042, near Llanellen, Abergavenny has been named as Milton Watkins from Llanfoist.

The family of Mr Watkins has released the following tribute:?

"Milton was a loving father to his son Jason and a wonderful Grandfather to his four Grandchildren, Dannie-Lee, Tommy-Lee, Casey-Lee & Harrison-Lee. ??"He was born in Llanelly Hill and spent his working life as a tool maker in Coopers Filters, Abergavenny. ??"He was very active and loved taking the children for long walks and relaxing in the garden. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and family."

Mr Watkins died following a head-on collision between his blue Honda motorbike and Peugeot 206.

The incident happened on the A4042 at Llanellen, near Abergavenny.

A woman of 46 and a girl of seven who were travelling in the silver Peugeot 206 were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital suffering from minor injuries.

The pair, from Crickhowell, were discharged later on Sunday after receiving treatment.

A Gwent Police spokesman said that the force received a call at 1.34pm, with the 69-year-old motorcyclist pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remained closed for some time as officers investigated.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call Gwent Police on 101.
