Local AM Nick Ramsay is hoping that an urgent request by constituents of Llanellen for a pedestrian footpath at Llanellen Bridge is moving a step closer to being given the go ahead.

After writing to the Welsh Government’s Secretary for Infrastructure to ask about the prospects of a footbridge, Mr Ramsay has been told that he will receive a copy of the feasibility report, which will be completed during the current financial year.

Speaking today, Mr Ramsay said, “My constituents in Llanellen feel that a pedestrian crossing over Llanellen Bridge is urgently required as the existing bridge has no footpath whatsoever and is extremely dangerous for any walkers or pedestrians wishing to cross the river.

“They would be delighted to see proposals similar to those under consultation for Llanfoist Bridge.

“I look forward to receiving the feasibility report as soon as it is completed.”
