A wonderful comprehensive book to commemorate local artist and illustrator Michael Blackmore has been presented to the new local library.
The book, of which just one has been printed, has been compiled and published by Michael’s long term friend Mr. Ken Worrall, who also previously published the ‘Michael Blackmore recollection’.
Visitors to the Library will be able to peruse the many local landscape paintings, industrial and archaeological illustrations of the local area in the 18th and 19th centuries and several vivid drawings of local and visiting Steam Railway Engines.
The book was presented to Mrs Claire Cross the Library Manager by Mrs Brenda Blackmore representing Mike’s family.
Mrs Blackmore thanked Ken Worrall for, what she believed, is the most comprehensive pictorial of her late husband’s work and is sure it will give great pleasure to locals and visitors alike.
Mrs Blackmore also thanked Chris and Sheila Woodhouse for organising the presentation and Mr George Beal Chairman of Friends of the Library for his help and encouragement.
The new library situated in the Town Hall is open Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4.30pm and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
