ROAD signs to Usk, which have been missing for over a year, is causing problems for local businesses in the area, claims Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay.

The large green primary route sign on the northbound A449 is missing and another temporary yellow sign has become overgrown.

Mr Ramsay said: "It seems the lack of adequate signage to Usk off the major trunk road is already causing problems for local businesses in Usk."

The Assembly Member has also learnt that a local publican in the town lost trade recently when a coach booked to stop at Usk for a meal missed the exit from the A449 due to the lack of adequate signs and continued on to Monmouth and then cancelled the booking.

"Although this may seem to be a small issue, it is clearly having serious implications for business in Usk, and causing inconvenience to motorists.

"The signage problems have been reported to the trunk road agency, and although remedial work is on the programme, it seems unlikely the necessary work will be done in the near future.

" I have written to the Minister Carl Sargeant to draw his attention to the recent incident, and have stressed that Usk needs to be properly signposted off the A449 and not left off the map."
