A TEENAGE girl made the grim discovery of a mutilated Spring lamb dumped in a swing at a village park.
The "absolutely horrendous" scene was discovered by 13-year-old Amy Jones on her way to school. Her mother Mandy Jones said the children's playground at Goytre looked like "something out of a horror film."
Amy, a pupil at King Henry VIII School in Abergavenny, saw the decapitated animal while on her way to the comprehensive and immediately contacted her mother. Mrs Jones went to the park and to her horror found the limbless and headless animal in a baby swing. Police are now investigating the "sick crime" and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything last Thursday, to come forward.
Mrs Jones said, "It was like a scene from a horror film. When my daughter text me I didn't believe her at first. Because I work in the school I worried about it being there when the younger children walked past - it doesn't bear thinking about.

"We haven't heard who could have done it. The lamb's head was cut clean off and the four limbs were cut and the body was placed in to the swing. We're just very lucky no children saw it.
"Now residents are wondering if it's some sick ritual or just people on drugs. We just can't think who would do something so horrendous. The village is in shock."
The teenager said while she was waiting for her school bus, a friend told her a large bird had been found in Goytre Park.
"I didn't think much of it, so I went into the shop. Then one of my other friends walked in and said that they had seen there was a dead pig placed in one of the baby swings.
"Curious about this, four of us walked up to the park to see it for ourselves and on entering we realised that it was not a pig, it was in fact a dead lamb.
"On closer inspection, we soon realised that it's head was missing and it's legs were cut off, just above the feet. It was severely mutilated and there was blood all over the swing and the floor. What was left of the lambs legs had been placed onto the hand grip bar and it's back legs were placed through the leg slots of the swing, as if it were sitting in it." Then the disturbed teenagers contacted Mrs Jones.
Mrs Jones added, "The horror and disgust I felt is difficult to put in to words, knowing that a defenceless animal could be tortured in this way is beyond my comprehension, if anyone knows of the person or persons who were involved in this sick crime, please contact the police."
Gwent Police confirmed they received a call at approximately 7.45am on Thursday, May 6 reporting that a lamb had been discovered fatally injured in Goytre Park, Abergavenny.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said, "Officers attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
"If anyone can provide information about this incident they are asked to contact Gwent Police on 101."
