BRYNMAWR Library is one of six across Blaenau Gwent offering arange of free health checks to local people throughout September.

The aim of the Aneurin Leisure scheme, which also runs at the borough’s sports centres, is to help people get an idea of their current health status and offer some help and advice on how they can improve their general health and well-being.

On Monday, September 11 each of our Sports Centres at Abertillery, Ebbw Vale and Tredegar are hosting a Free MOT Day from 10am – 12pm and 5pm – 7pm. During these free sessions visitors can receive an in-depth and truly personalized health and fitness consultation through our new Tanita systems, which accurately measures body composition, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI.

Trained fitness professionals can then use this information to provide helpful advice and support on how they can improve their health and well-being and even identify and set wellness goals.

Each of the six libraries across Blaenau Gwent will also be offering visitors Free Health Checks from September 8-15, with Brynmawr taking part on Monday, September 11 from 10.30-11.30am.

Anthony Hughes, Managing Director of Aneurin Leisure said of the initiatives; “At Aneurin Leisure we feel passionately about helping people to lead healthy and active lifestyles, and we want to provide as much support as we can to anyone who’s interested in taking the first steps to improve their health and well-being, which is why we’ve planned a series of free health checks at a variety of our venues around Blaenau Gwent.

We’d like to encourage people of all ages to take advantage of these sessions, whether they’d just like to check how they’re doing or get some advice on how to make some health and fitness improvements, to pop along to their local library or sports centre and have a chat with our qualified staff.”
