GOYTRE - 6

SOUTH GOWER - 0

HOT on the heels of their 2-0 defeat at Plough Road to lowly Tredegar, the Goytre bounced back with a vengeance and found their scoring shoes to fire six perfectly executed strikes against the South Gower seasiders.

A hat-trick from hot shot Luke Prosser, aided and abetted by goals from his brother Matthew, Dean Taylor and Craig Joliffe ensure that the villagers stay sixth in the Welsh League Division Three table.

This Saturday Goytre are back in action against a struggling Cwmamman United outfit who they must surely go to town on if they are to keep themselves a decent place at the promotion party.

AC Pontymister - 3

Govilon - 1

GOVILON suffered their second defeat on the bounce when they were thwarted in their tracks by AC Pontymister.

For most of the first half it was honours even, but Pontymister made the breakthrough five minutes from time with a headed effort which clipped the post before hitting the back of the net.

Richard McCarthy brought an excellent save from man mountain McLaughlin in Pontymister's goal who used his gigantic frame to thwart a well-struck free kick.

Pontymister extended their lead on the hour mark and swiftly added another to claim the points before Richard McCarthy struck a late consolation for Govilon five minutes from time.

Elsewhere in Gwent County Division One the Blaenavon Blues were undone 1-0 by Abercarn United. In Division Two the Mardy held Sudbrook Cricket Club to a 2-2 draw, but two goals just wasn't enough for the Abergavenny Thursdays who were beaten 2-3 by New Inn in their Division Three encounter.
