THE family and friends of Sian Sweet raised over one thousand pounds for Ovarian Cancer Action during a walk earlier this month.
Walkers gathered to remember and celebrate Sian who recently passed away after a short battle with Cancer.
Sian worked for Gwent Association of Volunteering Organisation (GAVO), helping young adults into meaningful workplace positions that in many cases led to full time employment
The walk took place on Sunday June 16 and began at Llanwenarth Village Hall. It was a 2.4 mile trek along Pentre Road past St Peter’s Church and up to Pyscodlyn Farm before the return to the Village Hall where there was an afternoon style buffet.
The walk was well attended and on the day £800 pounds was raised, making a grand total of £1,020 which will be sent to Ovarian Cancer Action - a charity which which works towards the early detection of ovarian cancer.
Sian’s husband Jim said, “I would like to personally thank Pyscodlyn Farm and Roy Parsons for giving over their fields for car parking. And also Jem’s Catering for donating to the afternoon tea buffet.”
