ABERGAVENNY Food Festival was 'the icing on the cake' during a busy weekend of visits for a party of French Rotarians.
The party from Saint-Peray, Tournon in the wine growing region of the Rhone Valley were met and hosted by Abergavenny Rotary, but there was still plenty of time to have a full day at the Food Festival.
The visit started with dinner at The Malthouse then on the Saturday morning a trip to the Penderyn Whisky Distillery for a tour and tasting followed by lunch at Hirwaun. A barbecue rounded things off on Saturday evening.
Sunday saw a day's visit to the Food Festival and in the evening dinner at the Beaufort Arms, Raglan, where the party was staying.
A presentation was made before dinner on the French club's Dareda Project, finding then sinking a well in Tanzania to provide clean water for a hospital.
The Abergavenny Club contributed match funding for the project.
Rtn Vince Wadsworth said, " It was a busy trip but I think they enjoyed it. Of course the jewel in the crown was the Food Festival, we had our fingers crossed because of the weather buy thankfully the rain stayed away and they thoroughly enjoyed it."
