SNOWMEN, sparklers and more elves that you could shake a Christmas stocking at descended on Abergavenny for the switching on of the Town’s festive lights on Saturday.

Many members of the public joined in the celebrations by turning up in fancy dress. As well as Santa’s helpers there were antlers aplenty and characters from Frozen mingling with fairies and frost queens.

There was entertainment throughout the town too, with juggling elves, choirs and solo performers brightening up the many market stalls. Many of the shops were also open late for people to do a bit of present-buying or have something to eat and drink.

Mayor of Abergavenny, Councillor Teslin Davies, arrived on her sleigh to perform the switching on of the lights, which were paid for by Abergavenny Town Council as part of a joint initiative with Y Fenni Business Community.
