Organised by the Raglan Village Hall Association, the event attracted nine entrants, aged from 11 years upwards.
The brief was to create a dish suitable for a royal garden party to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s sapphire anniversary – and with her red, white and blue, raspberry and blueberry pavlova, Daphne Pettit’s attractive dessert undoubtedly fitted the bill.
Mrs Pettit, who lives in the village, said: “I’m just a family, everyday cook but my husband David encouraged me to enter my pavlova.”
Congratulating Mrs Pettit on her success, Mr Ramsay said: “It was a fun evening and a real pleasure to be invited to judge this popular competition – not an easy task! Well done to everyone who took part, and of course to Daphne for her delicious pavlova. I would like to thank everyone involved in organising such a successful evening and Miguel and his team at The Beaufort.”
