IF you want to relive the salad days of wide-eyed euphoria and dancing to the dawn but fear you won’t bounce back like you used to do after pulling a manic all-nighter, fear not; help is at hand.
The Awake Collective is bringing Wake Up Dancing to Abergavenny’s Kahve on Lewis Lane for this weekend’s Food Festival.
Held on Sunday, September 20 from 9 am to 11 am, it’s a new kind of rave for our health-conscious times.
It’s tailored to get the body moving and the rhythms grooving but leave you feeling fit for the day ahead.
An Awake Collective explained, “It is a rave in every sense except one: there is no alcohol. The bar serves coffee.”
The Awake Collective began when two friends, DJ Baby K8 and Naby (Nabila Fowles-Gutierrez), had an idea to resurrect the rave in the Abergavenny morning.
They dreamed up conscious coffee house raves for the town, and hosted their first one only a few weeks ago in a room that filled before most people had finished breakfast.
The sober morning dance events with coffee, music, connection and zero alcohol hit the spot, and now they're back for round two, closing the last morning of the Abergavenny Food Festival with Wake Up Dancing at Kahve on Sunday, September 20.
The Awake Collective’s Nabila and Kate explained, “Expect a room of dedicated ravers dancing like it's 2am, coffee in hand instead of a drink, and the whole day still ahead of them when the music stops.
"People think you need a Friday night and a drink in your hand to feel like this. You do not. You need a room, a good DJ, and other people. We start at nine in the morning, and everybody remembers all of it."

If you’re interested in dancing with a clear head instead of dancing with the devil, the event, hosted by Kahve and sponsored by The Bridge Inn, is free to attend.
You just need to register your interest at theawakecollective.co.uk/abergavenny-sep2026, add your name to the list, and let the beats do the rest.
