John Morgan of Abergavenny decided to make use of his lockdown hours by taking part in an unusual challenge to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis.
His daughter, who is 38, has this lung condition so he decided to take up the charity’s offer to complete an Ironing Man 2.6 challenge on Sunday.
This consisted of several stages where John had to tackle such tasks as follows:
Stage 1: Ironing 26 T shirts.
MP rolls up her sleeves on 'repeated' litter reports on Abergavenny estate
'Accessible' parking bays painted with white lines can't be used by disabled drivers
Two-storey extension in rural village refused due to conservation concerns
Abergavenny restaurant shortlisted for prestigious Italian cuisine awardStage 2: cycling 26K on exercise bike:
Stage 3: Jogging 2.6K in his courtyard.
Obviously there were drink stations at changeovers, drinks and sponge (tea and Victoria sponge of course).
John said: ‘’We are on full isolation as my daughter is 38 and has Cystic Fibrosis, so we are making use of what we have to hand using our limited space and facilities in both physical and daft ways to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust’’
John set up a justgiving page
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic the Trust, along with charities across the UK, has suffered as general fundraising events have been affected by the restrictions.
Thousand of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller one, are struggling to maintain services because of the huge reduction in income.
Of course this impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others.
