Usk residents dismayed at plans to close their Bridge Street Post Office could see essential services replaced in the town’s community hub.
Monmouthshire County Council is working through a business proposal which could see a Post Office open at the Usk hub, depending on the verdict of a council cabinet member decision.
The decision set for this Wednesday (October 24) says the September closure of Barclays Bank, and the looming Post Office closure amounts to what local MP David Davies recently called a ‘double whammy’ blow to vital services.
This news came as bosses said they were forced to close after failing to find a replacement for the retiring postmistress. ??Despite mooted potential legal wrangling, the MCC report suggests a Post Office counter service could bring in £12,000 to £14,000 each year. ?
