Garden designer Sarah?Price has claimed a coveted Gold?Medal for her M&G?Garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
Hotly tipped to take the Best Show Garden award, the garden has been described as ‘a romanticised haven set in a warm, sunny climate, which expands on a simple, timeless idea that three core elements - a wall, trees and seating - can create an intimate, sheltered oasis of calm’.
Sarah, who already has a Chelsea gold under her belt, hails from Abergavenny and says that her horticultural career was partly inspired by her grandmother Joan’s Victorian walled garden at The Chain in Chapel Road.
“It was idyllic – the Cibi stream runs through the garden, there were ancient mulberry and medlar trees, a kitchen garden and a secret garden which you reached through a tunnel under the road.
“My parents also took me on long walks in the mountains and the Llanthony Valley. All of this gave me a real connection with nature,” sad Sarah, speaking to the Chronicle in 2012.
