A SUCCESSFUL car boot sale for Wateraid was a showcase for local enterprise and talent recently.

On Sunday, September 14 there was a colourful scene at the Park Hotel at Pandy and a triumph over the wet summer.

The varied and colourful array of stalls was evidence of Walterstone and wider community support. Local talent shone, writer Rebecca Tope who with Jane Nash of the Park Hotel, promoted the idea and was there selling her books.

Young talent included Emily Perera Jewellery designer,Victoria Fletcher with delicious home bakes and preserves, and Carole Jenkins greetings cards. As ever Martha and David Holman of Love Zimbabwe added an international flavour with their display African crafts. With the generous help of the Park hotel raffle and prize of dinner for two, the event raised £200 which added to the £800 raised at their garden party in July which brings the total to over a £1,000 with more to come.

Fair trade coffee morning, and special pre-Christmas sale for Wateraid will be held  at Rowlestone village hall on Wednesday, October 22.
