Going to the Eisteddfod and don’t speak Welsh? Don’t panic!
Here are some useful phrases to cut out and keep which will you blend in with the crowd.
Bore da - Good morning
Prynhawn da - Good afternoon
Noswaith dda - Good evening.
Shwmae - Hello
Sut ydych chi? - How are you?
Iawn diolch - Fine thank you.
Beth ydy’ch enw chi? - What’s your name?
[Insert name] ydw i - I’m [your name].
Mae’n dda gen i gwrdd a chi. - Pleased to meet you.
Hwyl fawr - Goodbye
Dw i’n deall - I understand
Dw i ddim yn deall - I don’t understand.

Dywedwch hynny unwaith eto, os gwelwch yn dda - Say that again please.
Siaradwch yn arafach, os gwelwch yn dda - Can you speak more slowly please?
Ydych chi’n siarad Cymraeg? - Do you speak Welsh?
Ydych chi’n siarad Saesneg? - Do you speak English?
Ydw, tipyn bach - Yes, a little.
Os gwelwch yn dda - Please
Esgusodwch fi - Excuse me
Diolch - Thank you
Faint yw hwn - How much is this?
Faint o’r gloch ydy hi? - What’s the time?
Ga i beint os gwelwch yn dda? - Can I have a pint please?
Ble mae’r maes? - Where’s the maes
Ble mae’r llwyfan y maes - Where’s the open air stage?
Ble mae’r toiled? - Where’s the toilet?
Ble mae’r bwyd? - Where’s the food?
