Nick Ramsay, AM for Monmouth, has challenged the First Minister in the Assembly Chamber to improve disabled access at the train station in Abergavenny.
The exchange took place during the weekly First Minister’s Questions in Cardiff Bay when Nick Ramsay said, “Abergavenny Station suffers from a number of access issues, particularly for those with disabilities who need to access the southbound platform.”
Mr Ramsay asked the First Minister whether the Welsh Government has sought assurances on disabled access from Arriva Trains Wales, in the run-up to the awarding of the new rail franchise.
“Arriva has a responsibility to all passengers travelling on the rail network, and at present, disabled access at the station is simply not acceptable.
“I hope the Welsh Government will use the awarding of the new franchise as a lever to secure a better deal for disabled passengers using Abergavenny station,” he said.
