Care homes across the country are having to take strict precautions to protect their residents from the covid-19 virus.
Known to seriously affect those more vulnerable in our communities, there has been concern over how care homes will continue to effectively care for their residents amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Foxhunters, a care home which belongs to the Dormy Care Communities group and is based in Abergavenny, has released a statement revealing how they aim to protect those in their care. It reads as follows:
“Dormy Care Communities can confirm that plans have long been in place to ensure that every team member is fully prepared to continue to provide the highest standard of care and service to residents in the event of an outbreak within our communities. We would like to offer our reassurance that we currently do not have any confirmed cases in any of our homes.
“With that in mind, our priority is to maintain the safety of the ladies and gentlemen living in the homes as well as our staff teams.
“We have taken the decision, therefore, to cancel all outside entertainment planned to come into the home for the foreseeable future.
“Our infection control measures continue and our contingency plans to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest standards of care and service are being followed diligently.
“To assist us as much as possible, we have respectfully asked that only essential visits to the home are undertaken and on entering the home, loved ones are met within their own rooms and not in communal spaces. Hand hygiene is of paramount importance and we are insisting that the protocol already in place is followed i.e. wash your hands for at least 20 seconds and then apply hand sanitising gel that is made available in every home.
“These decisions have not been taken lightly and are in the best interests of everyone living and working in the home.”
