The Abergavenny Chamber of Trade is being re-launched as the Abergavenny Business Club (ABC) in the hope that it can attract new members and entice back some of the old ones.
A spokesperson for the ABC told The Chronicle, 'the Chamber of Trade had lost its way in recent times and desperately needs new support.
"It is our hope that with a new name and a new approach we can achieve some positive things for our wonderful town and the businesses within and around it'
'We do not wish to be a one issue group, we want to get as many businesses involved as possible in order that we can come up with a whole host of good ideas to get the town thriving again'
'The Abergavenny Business club is run by local businesses and is for local businesses, Abergavenny has so much potential that we are currently not tapping into but we need more members to generate ideas and to get things done to improve our town'
Events such as the Food Festival and the Cycling festival have really helped to put Abergavenny back on the map and now is the time to capitalise on these things and try to get more visitors to the town all the year round.
The Abergavenny Business Club is having a launch evening on Wednesday, July 18 at the Kings Head Barn (to the rear of the pub) at 6pm.
'It would be really great to see local businesses coming along to this event for an informal presentation about what the ABC would like to achieve, what the benefits are to local businesses and how they can get involved'
