Members of the public have been asked to stay away from Keepers Pond due to the nearby wildfire in the area.

Emergency services are using the pond as a source of water to help tackle the Blaenavon wildfire once again. Some homes were evicted closer to the scene of the fire as a precaution last night, and those who do not need to be in the area are being urged to go elsehwere.

“Due to the wildfire in the area, Keepers Pond car park is currently closed,” a spokesperson for the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park said.

“Emergency services are using the pond as a water source to help tackle the fire. For everyone's safety, please avoid the area until further notice.”

“We will provide updates on the reopening of the car park as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”
