The A40 through Crickhowell has reopened under traffic lights following a fire involving a van and caravan.

The road was closed in both directions between Crickhowell and the junction with the Nantyffin Cider Mill Inn while firefighters dealt with the incident.

Traffic Wales - the Welsh Government’s motorway and trunk road information service - is now reporting that the road has reopened under three-way traffic signals, with delays possible.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Crickhowell and Brecon were called to the incident on Rectory Road at 1:42pm.

Two hose reel jets, a fogging unit and thermal imaging camera were used to tackle the fire.

Dyfed-Powys Police also attended and helped implement the road closure.

Fire crews left the scene at 3.39pm.
