Over £4,000 was donated to Crickhowell Cancer Research last week.
The cheque was presented last Friday at The Pantry in Crickhowell by Rob Jones of the Monmouthshire freemasons to Hazel Thomas, the chair of the cancer charity’s committee.
Mr Jones, Chris Evans, John Judd and Julian Tod from the Monmouthshire masons raised a total of £4,373.83 by taking part in a banger rally in the summer.
The money will be used for research into prostate cancer at Velindre Hospital near Cardiff.
The team, who were in fancy dress, completed the Monte Carlo or Bust rally which saw them drive through France, Switzerland and Italy before finishing in Monte Carlo on July 22.
The freemasons finished the four-day route without any hiccups.
Mr Jones said: “It was really good fun, very tiring but fun.
“We had an old Mercedes, it had to be £500-worth so it was £500 worth of old Mercedes. It was absolutely boiling so we were glad we made sure the air conditioning was working before we went.
“We chose this charity because a lot of the men in the lodge are of an age and so prostate cancer is talked about.
“We also wanted to keep it to a local charity because then you see the work happening, where as if we gave to a UK-wide charity, you don’t see how it’s used.”
