A new website called Dewis Cymru, developed by Welsh Government, was launched at Llanishen Village Hall recently to support and improve the wellbeing of people across Monmouthshire and Wales.

Well-being is not just about health, it includes where people live, getting out and about and keeping in touch with family and friends as well as feeling safe and secure.

The aim of Dewis Cymru is to help people think about what matters to them and find out about the people, activities and services that can help.

There are seven themed areas that provide information about local groups, services and activities. People are urged to go online and find out more at dewis.wales.

The Monmouthshire launch took place at the Collaborative Approaches to Wellbeing Meeting, a meeting that brings together a host of organisations and individuals who provide preventative support in local communities to help people of all ages stay well and keep well. Many of the organisations and individuals who were in attendance are visible on the Dewis website.

GAVO Health and Social Co-ordinator Louise George said, “Wellbeing can mean so many things to so many people and Dewis is a really useful tool to help people of all ages access information - from finding out about a local befriending project for a loved one to learning more about benefits and ways to manage money.

“We need more organisations to upload to the site so more and more people can find out what we have on offer to help improve the wellbeing of people in Monmouthshire.”

The site has easy to follow guidance to help groups and individuals add information about their group or organisation.
