SECOND-placed Premier Division outfit Llanarth closed in on league leaders Raglan's four point lead after beating an ever-improving Llanfoist side 2-1.

Llanarth led 1-0 at half-time through a Dan Wheeler goal. In the second-half Steve Morgan scored Llanarth's second and Ben Marshall netted for Llanfoist.

Crickhowell were narrowly beaten by Pontypool Town 4-5 after the two teams were level-pegging 3-3 at the stroke of half-time,

After going 2-0 down to Usk Town on the 'Island', a ten-man Gilwern and District bounced back impressively in the second-half to win the game 2-4.

Ross Curzon scored for Usk in the 20th minute and team-mate Will Barton made it two just before the interval with a well taken penalty.

Ten minutes into the second-half and sub Adam Carrington led the Gilwern revival with his first goal. 15 minutes later Matthew Burkitt put his team level, before Carrington scored his second and Gilwern's winner in the 90th minute.

In Division One Mardy were beaten 3-1 away at Green Hill Road by Panteg.

Man of the match Steve Hollingworth scored Mardy's consolation goal.

Blaenavon Blues beat last season's champions Clydach Wasps 2-1. Matt Grabner put the Wasps 0-1 in front. Joe Prince put the Blues level going into the interval and Steve White gave the Blues the win from the penalty spot in the 85th minute.

Man of the match for the Wasps was Simon Tippens.

Govilon had a 3-1 home win over Trevethin courtesy of a hat-trick delivered by Lewis Meadows.

Prescoed have opened the gap at the top of Division Two to four points clear of second-placed side Clydach Wasps 'B' following a 5-1 victory over a strong Pandy 'B' side.

Prescoed's goals came from Gareth Wesson, Gary Hewitt, Adam Standford, Barry Jones and Paul Harry.

Matthew Cox put Blaenavon 'B' 0-1 in front, before Ben Ward struck from a screamer to put Clydach 'B' level going into the interval.

Come the second-half and both Matthew Cox and Ben Ward struck again to make it 2-2, before a well taken header by Luke Welsh gave Clydach the win.
