Lliswerry - 3

GOVILON'S losing streak continued in the blistering heat of Newport when they were fried alive by Liswerry who beat them 3-1.

Matthew Stephens had an early chance for Govilon but it was Lliswerry who took the lead on eight minutes in a first half devoid of any real action.

Rhys Whiteman tested Lliswerry keeper Ross Davies early in the second half with two long-range efforts, before Govilon's keeper Sam Morris made an instinctive save to prevent Liswerry going further ahead.

The value of this save was underlined when Govilon drew level thanks to a chip from fully forty yards by Matthew Stephens.

As the game drifted to full time Lliswerry produced two killer blows, scoring first when a headed effort fell to the feet of the prolific Tony Shire who clipped the ball in from close range, and in the final minute a free kick was headed home.

Govilon travel to Newport again on Saturday, this time to face Spencer Youth and Boys. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Cwmamman United - 2

Goytre - 2

GOYTRE are still in the pursuing pack for promotion from Welsh League Division Three in the wake of a 2-2 draw at lowly Cwmamman United.

Chris Pritchard and Luke Prosser bagged the goals for Goytre and Prosser who is numero uno in the hot-shots list, needs only one more goal to take his tally to 30.

Hopefully he will have plenty of opportunity for just that in Saturday's game against Caerau.
