GilFest returned for another year of live music over the weekend, showing what a small community can do when they are willing to get involved.
That community focus was evident throughout the day, as families settled in, children played, musicians performed and residents bumped into friends and neighbours. With generations represented from newborns to people in their 90s, it felt like a genuine village gathering rather than simply a festival audience.
“This event really couldn't happen without the help of volunteers who are prepared to give just a few hours of their time,” said Helen Pickering, the key organiser behind Gilfest.
“And once again, Gilwern showed what a small community can create when people are willing to get involved.”
