A BANK holiday ball is taking place to raise money for the teenage cancer trust Laurie Engel Fund next month.
The ball will be held against the backdrop of the Skirrid Mountain at Cefn Clytha, Llangattock Lingoed, the home of George and Fiona Chandler on Sunday, August 24 where bidders will have the chance of winning a holiday, dining experiences or a round of golf.
A sparkling reception of pink fizz and canapes will welcome guests followed by a buffet supper with music and dancing. William Chadwick of J Straker Chadwick & Sons has agreed to oversee the auction of prizes generously donated by local businesses. Prizes include holiday accommodation in France and Spain, dining experiences at award winning restaurants, The Bell at Skenfrith, The Hardwick near Abergavenny and Hereford's Castle Hotel. Also up for bidding, for the golfer, rounds of golf at Belmont Golf Club and Alice Springs Golf Club near Usk. For the fisherman a weekend's carp fishing and accommodation at The New Inn, St Owens Cross. For the cricketer, Warwickshire County Cricket Club have generously given 10 tickets for the Pro 40 match against Surrey on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25 and for the gardener – a personal tour of Sir Roy Strong's garden at The Laskett.
