WHEN the boys from Crickhowell RFC arrived at training last week they were met by Cardiff Blues captain and New Zealander Paul Tito alongside Welsh international Rhys Williams who had turned up to give them a taste of what a professional training session would be like - and what a session it turned out to be!
With their years of international playing experience the two Blues put the Crickhowell boys through what was an intensive yet very enjoyable, and more to the point, rewarding coaching session.
They offered an enormous amount of advice and knowledge on how they could develop both as a team and individually in the coming season.
They spared no mercy with a short sharp fitness session followed up by what's becoming the normal for all professional sides these days, short intense routines concentrating on delivering skills at speed and with confidence.
Unfortunately one of the boys decided to wear an Ospreys shirt and he in particular came in for 'special' treatment from Blues skipper Paul Tito!
With typical good humoured banter they made what was a very hard and unique experience for the Crickhowell boys one of the most enjoyable training sessions any could remember – who says training can't be fun!
The team coaches of Mark Hughes, Jim Aylett and James Ralph came away from the session with so much they can take into the new season.
Everyone involved with Crickhowell would like to give special thanks to the Cardiff stars friend, Glamorgan cricketer Mike Powell who had arranged the visit.
Once again anyone interested in playing can turn up on Tuesdays evenings at Parc Broyd at 7.00.p.m. All the players are now chomping at the bit for the season to start with a warm up game tonight, away to Division Four side Nantyglo.
