After a very busy and entertaining year, Llanfair and Gobion WI began 2016 with a delicious lunch prepared by president Jean Fry and other members to celebrate the 90th birthday of one of the branch’s long-standing members, Mrs Nancy Nethercott, who was then presented with a bouquet of flowers.

After cake and a toast members wished her well for the future.

Llanfair WI has a very varied programme for 2016, which will include members being ‘transported’ to the national parks of the USA and also ‘partaking in’ endurance riding in Peru - just two of the diverse topics to be covered by future guest speakers.

Members also meet weekly for coffee and to knit squares for blankets which they will be giving to a local charity.

The branch meets on the first Wednesday of the month, in the afternoon during the winter months and evening during spring and summer.
