A major route into Abergavenny has reopened to commuters this morning after it was shut overnight night due to a midnight collision. One driver was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuried.

The A4042 was closed between Llanellen and Llanfoist in the early hours of the morning, with Gwent Police reporting a road closure at around 1am via their social media channels.

Following an approach from The Chronicle, the force confirmed that a single vehicle collision occurred late in the evening.

“We had a call at about 11.25pm on September 20 reporting a collision on the A4042,” a spokesperson said.

“It was one car involved, one person was taken to hospital, no-one suffered life threatening injuries.”
