A major route into Abergavenny has reopened to commuters this morning after it was shut overnight night due to a midnight collision.

The A4042 was closed between Llanellen and Llanfoist in the early hours of the morning, with Gwent Police reporting a road closure at around 1am via their social media channels.

In a statement, the force confirmed there had been a collision on Sunday night.

“Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on A4042, Llanover towards Llanfoist,” the statement read.

“Please find alternative routes for your journeys.”
