Retired psychiatric nurse hopes to hold Pen-y-Fal School of Nursing reunion

By Staff reporter in Community News

A retired psychiatric nurse who trained in Pen-y-Fal School of Nursing in the early 1980s is planning a reunion and is keen to get in touch anyone who may have studied with him.

Adrian Rutter now lives in London and has fond memories of his time at the hospital which, he recalls was one of the town’s major employers. Adrian completed his course in 1983 so next year will mark the thirty-fifth anniversary.

‘I trained with some very nice people back then and it would be great to catch up. I particularly recall the first names of Barry, Georgina, Ira, Alan, Muriel and Patricia Warmsley. They came mainly from the Abergavenny and Ebbw Vale area.

“Over the years I have lost touch with most of them but I am sure many may still live and work locally,’”stated Adrian.

Anyone keen to get in touch and help in organising the reunion can contact Adrian on adrian.william.rutter@zen.co.uk

Pen-y-Fal Hospital opened in 1851 and closed in the 1996. At its height the institution was home to almost 2,000 patients.
